The goalkeeper joins us from Real Madrid, where she has played for the last six years.

Speaking in her first club interview at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Misa said: "I’m very happy and proud to be part of this great club. I'm really looking forward to meeting all my teammates and can’t wait to get started in pre-season.  

 "I remember that my agent called me and told me about it. I'm really proud that a team like Arsenal is interested in me. When I received that call, I didn't think much about it - Arsenal are a top team and it makes you feel proud. 

"They have been doing things very well in recent years. They are a leading club and one of the best teams in the world. They are doing things very well and it's a great challenge for me. I'm very excited to be part of this team."

Spanish international teammates Mariona Caldentey and Laia Codina also helped Misa make the decision to move to Arsenal.

"With Mariona and Codi, yes, I've spoken to them," she explained. "They are very happy that I have made the move to Arsenal. I know that Mariona will help me a lot, likewise with Ona [Batlle]; they are my teammates and friends. I'm sure we will have a great year. 

"I'm very intense. I like to be vocal and help the defence from behind. I understand the game very well - I try to adapt to what is needed in every moment of the game.  

 "I'm looking forward to getting to know London, learning English and meeting my teammates. I'm really looking forward to meeting them."

Reflecting on her last six years in Madrid, where she became Real's all time most-capped player with her 200th appearance in January, Misa said: "It's a learning experience. Six years at Real Madrid allows you to play in very important matches. It gives me the experience I need to be at Arsenal today."

A few of those very important matches came against us in the UEFA Women's Champions League, so what stood out to Misa most about us then?

"Their talent and the team they have. The two or three times I've played against them at home and away at Emirates Stadium was incredible. That's what impressed me the most. 

"[Emirates Stadium] makes it even more special. I used to play against them as rivals, now I'm an Arsenal player and I'm really looking forward to playing there and getting to know our fans and experiencing football. At the end of the day, Emirates Stadium is all about football and a lot of footballers love that.  

 "I hope to win a lot of titles and continue to make history at this club and win a lot of titles, which I'm sure will come my way."
